Facebook recently added location sharing to it’s already popular mobile app. 68% of Facebook users are likely to buy a product that is recommended by a friend on Facebook. While it is missing a few key features, it’s primary advantage is the enormous facebook community. Here are things you can do now to use Facebook Places to promote your business.
What happens when I check in through Facebook Places?
At the moment, a business listing is created on the wall of the person checking in, as well as a map of their location. And of course everyone viewing the wall post can “like” it.

How to leverage Facebook Places for your Business
- Make sure the address information on your Facebook page is accurate and up-to-date. If your business has multiple locations, create a separate page for each location. It’s highly likely that Facebook will begin associating businesses with their Facebook pages based on customers check-in location.
- Encourage customers to check-in from your business location. While Facebook does not yet offer a business the ability to create incentives for checking in, there’s no reason why you can’t do it yourself. Facebook users are more likely to visit a place that has been recommended by a friend (see the statistic above).
